Newborn sessions in my eyes are all about capturing the newness; their sweet soft skin, bright clean blankets, tiny clothes they don’t fill, bright eyed big sisters and adoring parents. It perfectly marks the beginning of a beautiful life and you can see the love that welcomes them home. This little guy was just 3 days old at his session and his big sister was still very curious and giggled at his little noises. We had a gorgeous spring day so we couldn’t help but step outside into the backyard.

How could I resist ordering an extra copy of this album? This was an awesome day. The session moved very quickly as you can see Colby did not want to be still for a moment. I was happy to match his energy and capture great family interaction. Queensberry was a perfect style choice for the album. The Queensberry details and custom options are all subtle and timeless; photo wrap covers, fine art papers, plenty of gorgeous leather and fabric options, embossing, vellum pages, mats and folded pages. We chose white contemporary leather with a half photo wrap in a wide format with 12 simple spreads. Each spread has 2 -9 pictures and we were able to include most of the session. Come by the studio and see it for yourself.

This time of year I am dreaming of Seattle summer and fondly remembering the heat wave and wonderful week when Barb Uil of JinkyArt came to my studio. Barb taught two 3-day workshops here and the whole experience was as dreamy as her images. Barb shared so much of what makes her the artist she is and hearing her perspective on my work was rewarding but also gave me fresh eyes. I’m still pushing myself in post production.

Barb imagines the world through the eyes of a child and going through the creative process with her reminded me how important it is to work with the families to plan the session styling. We know our goal is to make our work reflect each family and stay true to who they are so it totally made sense when I heard she often interviews the children to get inspired for her sessions. We had 5 shoots at each workshop and in between them, Barb photographed my family. Of course being the client allowed me to experience how we could be reflected in Barb’s style. I love our images and I am still in awe every time I check out her blog and see her latest work.

Below are a few of my images from the hot air balloon sessions. Shannon and the team at Airial Balloon Company were amazing. I asked plenty of questions about safety and these guys know what they are doing. Someday soon I hope to go for a ride with them. Big thanks to them and all of the wonderful models!
